I'm a bilingual (English / Spanish) video editor with over thirty years of experience. I work in Premiere Pro, Avid Media Composer, and Final Cut Pro.
I've worked on reality TV, documentaries, feature films, shorts and Spanish-language programming.
I've also developed many of my own projects, including short films, screenplays, and novels.
I'm eager to collaborate on any creative undertaking and I'll always give as much as I can to make the final product as great as it can be. Here are some of the things I've worked on.
Judge Mathis. This Emmy Award-winning daily hourlong court show airing five days a week recently ended its run after 24 seasons! I worked on it starting in season 2. It was produced by Telepictures / Warner Brothers. You can see some clips from the show here.
As video editor, I crafted unscripted live court cases into entertaining and compelling stories. I worked unsupervised and was responsible for all creative and content choices prior to final review by post coordinator and executive producer.
Each court case was taped with five cameras. This footage was grouped in Avid Media Composer allowing the editor instant access to all camera angles at any time.
As video editor, I was also responsible for assembling individual cases into complete shows, creating the overall story arc of each episode. This involved planning the narrative breaks (corresponding to segment breaks); choosing, producing and placing promotional bumpers; and then incorporating music, SFX and graphic elements. I was also responsible for online edit and sound mix to create an engaging, entertaining final product.
As part of a team of three editors, I coordinated with my colleagues to align schedules and finetune shared show content. On a daily basis, I managed the various demands of a daytime television court show, including precise show timing, shifting deadlines, notes and revisions, and the technical requirements of digital delivery for syndication.
Before Judge Mathis, I freelanced on corporate, documentary, and educational projects. Here are some of the highlights. You can see some clips of these here.
Towers Productions. This Chicago production company created content for the A & E flagship channel as well as the History Channel and National Georgraphic TV. I worked on several programs including "Biography," "American Justice," "History's Mysteries," "The Unexplained," and more. Working with a producer and a script, I edited fast-paced, entertaining hourlong shows consisting of interviews, voice-over, B-roll and stock footage.
"Hole in the Wall." I edited this independent feature film on Avid Media Composer. Produced and directed by Bruce Terris (Perpetual Grace, LTD; The Patriot).
"Realidades." I was coeditor on this instructional video for Prentice Hall's Spanish language high school curriculum. The program consists of scripted scenes and documentary segments entirely in Spanish.
